iGetting into the peaceful and friendly spirit of the world cup I would just like to make some predictions about the group results and finishing positions. Please comment on what you think whoever you are because this will be the topic of conversation for the whole next month so everyone get excited now!!! Only a few days away...
Group A
Germany 7pts
Poland 4pts
Costa Rica 4pts

This group is probably the "cure for insomnia" group if there is such a thing. Costa Rica is going to be the surprise packet, North America has to have a reason to have so many qualifiacation spots right? Germany will be disapointing and will choke in the opening match against Costa Rica, as Portugal did in opening game of Euro2004. Not too many goals will be scored as all attacks are laclusture at best. Ecuador will continue its perrenial failure at games outside its home country, as Germany is less than 3ks above sea level.
Group B
England 9pts
Sweden 6pts
Paraguay 1pt
T & T 1pt
With the impending ashes whitewash just around the corner the poms will have something to cheer about with three solid performances in the opening round, continuing their domination of Sweden. T & T will come away from the world cup with a point against Paraguay in a Dwight Yorke v. Roque Santa Cruz multigoal battle which will be a surprisingly good game to watch.

Holland 7pts

Argentina 4pts
Ivory Coast 0pts
I have been salivating over this round of group matches for months. Don't think that Ivory Coast will be easy beats, they will play attractive and quality football. Holland will wake up from their 1-1 draw with AUS and top the group. Serbia's defence will be almost impossible to breach. Argentina will just be pipped out of the second position due to losing to Holland in a high scoring game. The best non-AUS games to watch.
Group D
Mexico 7pts
Portugal 7pts
Angola 3pts
Iran 0pts
D is for almost dull. haha, just kidding! Mexico will perform solidly but not spectactuarly, Portugal will display their attacking prowess against the minor nations but will struggle a little against Mexico. Angola will display African flare to defeat Iran, and Iran will generally be crap because they are!

USA 1pt
This may seem like a huge prediction but we will have to say. Italy will diapoint and then complain that it was rigged against them (ironic justice for the current Serie A dramas). Czech will be a strong team performer with a strong work ethic and true spirit. Ghana will be the fairytale team of the world cup. This isnt unjustified because they have had some good lead up form, including beating South Korea. The USA, despite its high ranking, has a so-so squad at best and will be one of the underachievers of the world cup.

I dont think I need to say much about this group, SOCCEROOS!!! Brazil will be irresistable to watch with the fab 4 up front, Ronaldo, Ronaldhino, Robihno and Kaka, but Australia is who we all want to watch and the roos will do australia proud! Get behind our team australia, as serhat said, united not divided. There will be a few draws but it will still be great to watch. GO THE SOCCEROOS!!!

Spain will be great group performers and then will choke later on, especially without Raul in good form. The rest of the teams are a non-event, especially Saudi arabia
